Membership includes people who have served as current and former military, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, provincial and municipal police, direct relatives of members and also affiliated members. Founded in 1926 as the Canadian Legion of the British Empire Services League, it was incorporated by Parliament in 1926. In 1962, Elizabeth II gave the Legion the right to affix the word “Royal” to its name. The Queen of Canada, is royal patron of the Legion and the Governor General of Canada is also traditionally appointed as a patron of the group.

If you aren’t a Royal Canadian Legion member yet it might be time to join. For only $50/yr you can enjoy the benefits of membership and the community. Whether you’re interested in our community events or you just want to drop in for a great meal, the Legion is here for you. Expand your community with Branch #291 in Richmond, BC

RCL 291 wanted to ensure they were able to promote their events, newsletters, membership options and pictures of this location. Along with the West Shore Poppy Fund, they annually donate 90K to these communities through social activities, supporting seniors, developing youth leaders as well as those who’ve suffered illness or injury arising from Military service.

Historically the Legion Hall was the social centre of many Canadian towns. This was especially the case in the provinces with severe restrictions on the sale of alcohol, rules the legions were generally exempt from.
On this site, you will find information on Branch #291’s Entertainment, Sports Activities, Memberships, Veterans’ Links, and Branch Contacts.
